The purpose of this study group is for the members to become proficient with the capabilities of the TI-83 Plus graphing calculator. With the new Regents Mathematics Curriculum, students are required to use the graphing calculator and we want to become comfortable with the calculuator, so that we can better assist our students with the use of this powerful tool. All functions of the calculator will be covered including: graphing, statistics, data input/transfer, operations with lists, and logic operators.
Action Plan
Each week we will cover different functions of the graphing calculator. The following week's meeting will begin with a review of the topics already covered in the form of a worksheet to be completed. Additionally, discussions will take place as to where in the curriculum each of these functions will be useful and how to integrate/adapt this tool into the classroom. We will also track the usage of the graphing calculator in the classroom to see if there is an increase over time.
